Hello - A Bunch of (Waffle) Flowers

Halli Hallo!

Heya everybody!
You won't find any cute critters on my card today, but some very fun flowers. The stamp set I used is from Waffle flower and is made so that you can either stamp the online of a flower, the "filling" or use both together. When you look at my card you will see what I mean ;o)

I had masked off the wide stripe across the card to stamp my flowers and later added a thin strip of paper to the top and the bottom of that area. For my sentiment I chose a bold sentiment from one of my other WF sets and stamped it in black to match den strips of paper and the outline of the flowers. Love how it turned out!

To finish my card off I scattered a few Liquid Perls around the "hello" and also in the left over the flowers. This helps direct the eye over the card and also adds a bit of shimmer ;o) Speaking of shimmer, I had to add some Wink of Stella to the bigger blooms as well. Hey, it is a girly kind of card, isn't it? So I felt it needed shimmer ;o)

Go wild! Geburtstagskarte

Hallo zusammen!

Hello everybody!
Today's card combines stamping with free-hand colouring / drawing which isn't my strong point, but I thought drawing elements for my background would make be a good training. Have a look and tell me what you think ;o)

I used Distress Inks for the background and got some inspiration on what to draw from the internet. When I had decided what kind of surrounding I wanted for my giraffe I drew the outlines of the trees with Antique Linen (which is a very light colour)  and coloured over them with the "real"colours.

While the scene dried I stamped the giraffe and the ballon with Archival Ink on some watercolour paper and coloured them also with Distress Inks. Colouring in the balloon I made sure to go darker towards the outside and to leave that white stripe where the light would reflect from it. That adds a lot of depth to an image like this I think. I put some bakers twine around the knot of the balloon and also around the tail of the giraffe and glued them onto my background piece. When I laid it down on my card panel it looked kind of lost though. So I decided to have a strip of paper on each side of my piece to give it some place to sit and that did the trick ;o)

Sending warmest Wishes

Heya everybody!
Today's card is a winter card... Yes, I know, it is summer and I wished for it to stay warm and nice for at least another three month or more, but when I saw the sketch over at the MFT Challenge blog I had this card pop up in my mind immediately.

I used an older embossing folder for the background, which I really love and die cut the two ovals, which I glued together at once. After that I die cut the black strip of paper and used white powder to emboss the sentiment. When I stamped the words I made sure that I would have enough space to the left for the two little gifts. When I had glued them and the girl in place I stamped the snow and the word "Sending" to complete the sentiment.

Doodle Buds

Heya everybody!
I hope you had a great week! Today I would like to show you a simple card I made using one of my current favourite stamp sets from WPlus9:

All I did was to stamp the sentiment first (that is very important for me, because I always seem to forget to leave space for my sentiment and then have to work around it) and then to add the flowers around it. I tried out a new colour combination and found that I really like it. What do you think?

After I had coloured the blooms in using my Copics I used the same colours again to add these tiny little dots around the flowers. It made the card look more cheerful and also emphasized the stamped diagonal line. I hope that makes sense ;o)
I then glued the panel to a grey card base and added some glitter with my Clear Wink of Stella pen which is really hard to capture on a picture, but is stunning when you tilt the card in your hand.

Collaboration with Cards by Maaike

Hallo zusammen!

Hello everybody!
Today's card is a collaboration with the very talented Maaike from "Cards by Maaike". A couple of weeks ago she had a giveaway on facebook and the prize was 5 handmade cards from her. I so wanted to win, because I knew her cards from many challenges - her name came up as a winner quite often! So I entered the giveaway and I actually won. Whohoo ;o) Thanks again to Maaike for the wonderful cards she sent me. After she got in contact with me I was brave and asked her if she was interested in a collaboration and she was ;o) We both created some backgrounds and a few other pieces for each other and send them off. The rule we have given ourselves for this collab was, that we would each use a background plus one other piece to create a card. And here is mine:

Maaike had made this fabulous backgrounds with shaving foam (of all things) and reinkers. (You can find her video about it here.) I had hoped she would send me one of these and when I opened the envelope and found this blue marbled piece I knew I wanted to turn it into a card. Maaike had send me this cute little mermaid from Lili of the Valley as well. I thought those two pieces would go together nicely and so I coloured the image with Copic markers and cut it out using a tag die. Afterwards I coloured my card base and a slightly bigger tag with the colours that Maaike had used to make this background. (Blue Lagoon & Peacock Feathers Distress Ink by Ranger).

I glued all the layers together and added some staples to the top, so that it would look like I had simply stapled everything together. I chose the "just wavin' hello" sentiment, because it fitted so nicely with the theme of the card. My card was almost ready, but I felt it was missing something. When I remembered that I had the "Seaside Treasures" die, I put some "Bridal"  Embossing Tinsel on a piece of paper, put my heatgun to it and and die cut the various pieces from it. Unfortunately I didn't manage to capture the shimmer those die cut pieces really have now. I love most about them that they kind of change colour when they are tilted in the light.

Maaike and I will be doing some more collaborations in the future, so stay tuned ;o)
And I can just recommend to you to visit her blog! It is certainly worth it!!!

Congrats - way to go / Glückwunsch - gut gemacht

Hallo zusammen!

Heya dear crafty friends!
Time flies, doesn't it? The last two weeks have gone by so quickly that I can't believe it is time for a new Pinspirational Challenge already ;o) This time we have two sponsors for you again which means double the chance to win some of their great digital stamps. Our sponsors are "The Cutting Cafe" and "The Stamping Boutique"! And this is where inspiration took me:

First I inked up the background with three different shades of yellow and used a Tim Holtz stencil to get these letters on the left edge of my card. Next I printed out the books (from Stamping Boutique), coloured them with my Copics and stamped the owl's legs on there, too. I stamped the owl a second time on to white paper and coloured it also with my Copics, but only cut out the body.

I figured out where I wanted to place my owl and stamped it a third time, so that I would have its hair and legs and glued both the owl's body and the books in place. I added two tags to the upper right, after I had stamped and embossed my greeting on the orange one. The pattern you can see on the top tag is made with a hat stamp and Versamark. (If you'd like to see what I did to achieve this look just click here.) Lastly I added some Wink of Stella to all the letters in the background.

Hello everybody!
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend and maybe getting some time to craft as well ;o) Today I would like to show you a card that I have made using some Create a Smile stamps and Distress Inks.

I started this card by masking the edge of my card base, so that I could have the scene I was going to create in the middle of my card and keep a crisp white edge around it. After I had stamped the radio and the speechbubble I immediatly masked them off, too. I had pictured a wooden table for my radio to sit on so I used my ink blending tool to colour the bottom part with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Using the same colour I added some wood texture to my "table". When everything was dry I took out three different shades of blue to colour the sky. I started with the lightest colour and worked my way up and out getting progressively darker and later added the stars and the milky way using my white Sharpie.

Fertig ;o)

To finish the card off I coloured the radio and the heart with Copic markers and added a hand drawn black frame all around my scene. Done ;o)

The 100th post and my first ever giveaway ($15 to Simon Says Stamp)

Heya dear crafty friends!
The caption already says it all.... this post is the hundredth post on my blog. If this isn't a reason to celebrate I don't know what is ;o) Which is why I do not only have a card for you today but also my very first giveaway.

First I cut the three pieces of paper to size and stamped the banner and all the critters where I wanted them to be. I filled in the rest of the scene with my Copic markers. That was a lot of fun and if I could draw more than clouds and trees I would most definately do this more often.

After I had glued the three pieces in place I stamped the greeting on a little banner, used my ink blending tool to give the edges a little more dimension and hand drew a stitched line to the top and the bottom. I mounted the banned on some foam tape and glued it to the card base.

Tausend Dank (Hero Arts + Versamark Background)

Heya dear crafty friends!
Today I have another quick post with a little card for you. As you might now I created the background for this card with the help of my "Hero Arts + Versamark chart". (You can get to the post by clicking here.)  This is how you make a background like this:
~ ink up your paper really well, (an ombre background does look really nice with this technique!)
~stamp on top of it with Versamark (a big background stamps seem to be working best) and then
~put your heat gun to the paper. Just be careful to keep the heat gun moving so that you will have minimal warping.

I cut a 4,25" x 4,25" piece of paper from the background paper and from that two stripes that were large enough to fit my sentiment stamps. After I had stamped the greeting ("I am so very grateful for you" - very freely translated) I added the pink paper with foam tape to my card base and also added the three darker pink hearts. I covered them with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter pen and added some Glossy Accents on top.

Welcome Fox

Heya dear crafty friends!
This is my first card with a real Createasmile stamp. It is a small German company with a rather wide range of products for their young age ;o) A few weeks ago I made a card using one of their monster-freebies, but I do prefer real stamps because I feel like I can do so much more with them than with digital stamps...

I put the die cut panel through my Big Shot using two different  embossing folders (one at a time though) and left an area big enough for my stampin free of the embossing. I stamped the animal (fox?) to the left in Memeonto Ink and the sentiment more to the right with Versamark and added Zing embossing powder in "Aqua". I stamped and coloured the foxes paws a second time, so that I could fussy cut them out. I glued them on with some rolled up glue dots for just a tiny bit of dimension.

To finish off my card I added the striped blue twine and covered the knot with a little pink heart. I glued both (the knot and the heart) down using Multi Medium Matte by Ranger.

Bright red poppy / Strahlend roter Mohn

Halli Hallo ;o)

Heya there ;o)
Today I'll only have a short post, but a nice card with an easy background technique. In "Backgroundcheck" we have learned how to use dies in unexpected ways to create interest on a card. And this is my take on the technique:

I combined a die and a stamp to create a background for my poppy that would be more interesting than only white space (which can be interesting if paired right, but today I wanted something different...) but at the same time not too distracting.

I cut the paper for the sentiment from the same one I had used previously to make the flower and used white embossing powder on the happy birthday. To finish it of I used a decorative die on the top and bottom of the paper strip.

"Happy"... to have finally achieved a Debbie Hughes look ;o)

Second post of the day! ;o)
And what really makes my heart skip is that my card almost looks like it could have been made by Debbie Hughes. (I hope shoe doesn't mind me saying this, in the unlikely event that she will read this post some time in the future...*grin) Do you know her cards? They are always stunning and more often than not very subtle and using very light colours. Up until now I have never managed to make a card like this - usually I would feel like there was something missing on my card. But this time it worked out great ;o)

I used and embossing folder to dry emboss the butterflies and a diffuser to leave the circle shape to the right without the embosing effect. I then used my Distress Inks (Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass and Squeezed Lemonade) to gently rub over the butterflies to give them more depth. With the help of some ink (Fog by Simon Says) and a die from MFT I gave the circle shape a bit more interest before adding the stamping and the word die cut. I had cut the word "happy" three times and glued it together for more dimension.

Cupcake birthday with a bear on top ;o) (Partial embossing)

Heya crafty friends!
Today I would like to show you a couple of cards that I made after all the inspiration from my Online class "Backgroundcheck". The first card turned out super cute in my opinion. Hope I may say that here myself ;o)

I used a diffuser from Tim Holz, so that the embossing folder would not emboss the circle shape in the middle, where I wanted to stamp my cupcake.

On the edge of the area that I hadn't embossed I wanted to use a Simon Says stamp, but it was a little too big. So I decided to take out one of the "birthday" parts. The first times I stamped it, it had a slightly oval shape, because I hadn't managed to mount it on my block correctly. When I used the inner part of the diffuser however it worked like a charm ;o)

To finish off my card I took some black and white bakers twine which I wrapped around the card three times and closed it with a bow.

Tropical Santa

Hallo zusammen!

Hello everybody!
The weather in Germany is a mix of arctic cold and blazing hot temperatures, so that I had to think about christmas and of sun, summer and the sea when I saw the inspiration pic for the newest {PIN}spirational challenge. This is my card to get you to join us with this fortnight's challenge:

Our generous sponsor this time is Bugaboo Digi Stamps. This funny "Tropical Santa" is one of their many digital stamps. I simply had to create a fitting background scene for him and also make his surf board shiny ;o)

I hope you will join us for the newest challenge at {PIN}spirational Challenge ;o) Good luck!!!

Happy birthday mouse / Geburtstagsmaus

Heya crafty friends!
Maybe you have rfead it in one of my previous posts... I am attending the "Backgroundcheck" class at Online Card Classes and am learning how to make my backgrounds more interesting. This is my newest creation:

First I blended three different shades of ink on the panel, so that I would get kind of an ombre effect. I had masked off an area at the top, so that  would have a place to stamp the little mouse. After I got a smooth blend I took off the mask, stamped the image and coloured it in using Copic markers.

The wafer thin die that I had used to cut out my mask die cuts three different "pieces" at once: The planned shape is a chain of touching circles. But the side products are the inside shape (my mask) and 21 little dots. You can find those around the masked area covered in Wink of Stella Clear Glitter. To finish off my card I stamped the word "happy" in Versamark and the "birthday" with some red ink. In the beginning the word "happy" was really bright, but for some reason it started to fade a little after a few hours. Don't get me wrong, I still like the result, but I don't quite understand why it happened, because on my "Hero Arts meets Versamark chart" there is no fading in the areas of the colours I had chosen. Maybe it was because I had used a different paper... I will keep trying to figure all of this out and keep you posted.

Polar Bear at night time / Eisbär bei Nacht

Huhu :o)
Ich bin fleißig - merkt ihr es? Heute möchte ich euch eine Copics-Karte zeigen:

Heya ;o)
I have been very good at crafting lately - did you notice? Today I would like to show a card using loads of Copic colouring:

I stamped the cute polar bear in a light greyish ink, drew in the snowy hill and then coloured everything above it in various blues. I wanted to mimic the way Sandy Allnock coloured the background for her polar bear video where she covers the topic of how to colour white.

The shadow of the bear was the biggest challenge for me. I worked hard to get the shape just right and then used the Blender pen to blur the edges to give it a more natural look. I then coloured the bears eyes and nose back in, die cut the scene with one of my stitched dies and also stamped and embossed the greeting.
